odometer stopped 299999

In case any one else having this problem,my 2005 odometer stopped at 299999,called Toyota corporate they said it was meant to on my model. Have odometer replaced submit bill and in 1-3 days will let you know if it will be reimbursed. Not sure if I should have to pay for something they had made to stop.Anyone else having this issue?

That is correct, it is a known design flaw. You will have to switch out odometers or face odometer fraud at the next inspection. Toyota will not pay I believe, you get a new odometer and a sticker in your owners manual that shows you have a new odometer. Might be up to the dealer to replace under goodwill, but I doubt it. That is an insane amount of (I assume) miles to drive in 7 years.

Yeah, even in km that's 186,000 miles.

But the odometer is designed to fail? I've never heard of such a thing.

Yes.

Do a search on here and you'll find tons of threads containing complaints of this flawed design.

There's even videos on youtube about it.

Thanks for the info. So since my car is my business and I need my car, shouldn't Toyota pay for the replacement? If I had known.it was going to stop at 2999999 and I was responsible to replace it I wouldn't have bought it,I average 50,000 a year in miles and take good cre of my cars. Last car had 289,629 until some one hit me and totaled it,what is up Toyota, this really stinks like something!

They all do that up to a certain model year, including mine. There are many disputes over it, but Toyota does not cover it as the warranty is expired.
There are many used ones available, and it's very easy to replace. I'll just reset my tripmeter B and keep track of its every 10,000 kms cycle.
