Universal O2 sensors--2004 Corolla

Hello all, a newbie here.

Bought this car a couple months ago and it just threw the code for front O2 sensor. It's close to 100K, so this is no big deal, I guess.

Just wondering if anyone here has suggestions about the universal sensors. I used a uni before, albeit not on a Toyota, and it worked just fine. And I don't mind spending extra 10 minutes splicing the wires.

Just not sure if to go Bosch (convenient because the local parts stores have it) or Denso.

And would much appreciate any suggestions on how to splice/connect it all.

Cheers!
D

Denso or NTK. Skip the bosch junk.

$70 here. Why mess with a universal when you can get a direct fit?

Thanks for the replies. RockAuto has a Denso direct fit for under $60, or a Denso uni for ~35 shipped (Denso part 2344209).

The way I see it, it's probably the same sensor, minus the plug, and splicing the wires isn't the worst thing about changing these--getting it off will be the hard part. I really don't mind a uni, as long as it's not too difficult to figure out which wire goes where.

I replaced both O2 sensors (and spark plugs) at 113000 miles with the same Denso universal O2 sensor from Rock Auto, when the downstream O2 sensor's heater circuit went... Denso OEM style O2 sensors with connector are now available for a very reasonable price.

Do you recall if the wire coloring matched on the OE and Denso uni? Also, is the front one 3-wire or 4-wire?

Wire coloring matched. Original O2 sensors were also Denso. Both the primary and downstream O2 sensors have 4 wires. I used the same universal Denso O2 sensor part number for both the primary on exhaust manifold as well as for the downstream O2 sensor past the catalytic converters.
