03 Corolla S Exterior Door Handle

I'm new here and appreciate any/all help right up front...

A couple of weeks ago, my 17 yr old ripped the exterior drivers door handle off (to be fair, the car was iced over). I have the door apart and the lock cylinder off but I can't figure out how to install the new handle so that the handle actually opens the door. The back end of the handle that's in the door is like a hook that I assume something needs to clip on to or go around so when the handle is pulled to the outside, the release is actuated.

Does anyone have an exploded view pic they could post or an explanation of how to put this in? I'm really trying not to take apart the other door to see how this goes in but that's getting to be a viable option!

If you successfully repaired your rear door handle, would you please post how you
did it? My left rear door handle fell and I don't know what to do after removing
the door panel.
