2004 OEM project

Okay so I am a new user on this site and help would be much appreciated.

I have had my car for about 2 yrs and decided i wanted to take it to the drags.
still completely OEM auto trans.

I wanted to do a motor swap with a 2ZZ-GE and i hear its possible and can be quite expensive.

I was just wondering how much it would cost; and how much work it would take.

Again any help is greatly appreciated.

(I consider myself not too good with cars yet and i want to learn, i have lots of friends here that can help me if i get parts)

The 2ZZ-GE has to be mated to a 6-speed manual (C60/C62) or 4-speed auto (U240E) from the Celica GT-S or 2003 Matrix XRS (only year Matrix that had an auto option) which have the proper gearing for its higher revs... You may as well sell yours and get a Scion FR-S.

better choice would be to get a second, older car, that you can pour money into and beat the hell out of while still having another reliable car in case your racecar breaks. older 4 cylinder cars are great for first time racers, initial cost is low, parts are plenty and cheaper than for newer cars, and you wont feel as bad if you break something.
