Valve cover gasket?

I changed my spark plugs on my 07' corolla, with 118k miles on it. it looked like there was a little bit of oil on 2 of the coil packs. not alot. it was about where the gasket is. it smelled like oil, felt more like grease. spark plugs were clean. spark plug wells were clean to.

in one of the spark plug holes, where the valve cover gasket is, looks like a drop of oil. So if anything it may be a very small leak, if even that.

Should i just go ahead and replace the gasket just to be on the safe side.

I think it would be worth it for peace of mind. Relatively cheap and easy to replace.

ya thats what i was thinking, plus it would be a pain to clean it up if it did start leaking more

will a vacuum leak cause bad has mileage

There won't be a vacuum leak at valve cover gasket, just oil leaks... A vacuum leak at intake manifold gasket would have little effect on fuel efficiency. Original black gasket is likely leaking by now, causing a slight lean condition and erratic idling. Replace with Toyota's revised orange silicone gasket # 17171-22060.

Ya I am having not very good gas economy. and it's really cold out. the engine is louder than itshould

did want to start a new thread for this. But from what i read, i think im right

just got a check engine light today. code is P0171, lean

My guess is replacing the intake manifold gasket will prob fix this

No... Follow steps 1 to 6, and 15 to 18.

While you're in there, you could also measure your valve clearances.

Besides 08826-00080 seal packing. what equivalent product do you reccommend?
