I used to rely on the low washer fluid light on my 2003 LE. When it stopped working, I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that light is only on the "higher-end" Corollas. I said the LE is the higher-end (they're really all the same!).
I'm trying to figure out which 2003 models have this light. Everyone with a 2003 please post your model (CE, S, LE, etc) and if you get the low-washer fluid light when your washer runs low. Maybe I can show the responses to the dealer and convince them to fix it. I mean, if it shows up on a CE it has got to me on an LE -- right?
I have an 03-S Rolla and have the low washer fluid level indicator also on mine..Just checking my manual it doesn't state that this feature is only limited to certain models...but I wish I had the intermittent wiper control like the LE has, that's the only model it was available on...not an option on others, that SUCKS ....Radd Guy
>but it only shows it on canada made corollas.. (2T)
I think that is the key! I have a Canadian made car. Maybe the Mexican ones don't have this feaure?
Corollas are made in Mexico?...I alway thought that there were only two places in North America that made the car...Canada and California, am I wrong or are you refering to Cars being built in California by Mexicans? Radd Guy
Seeing that other '03s on this forum had low washer warning lights, I decided to make a second attempt at getting the dealer to fix mine while still under the 36k-miles warranty. But first I called the Toyota national customer service 800# to try to get additional technical info. I was quickly assured by their representative that my car did indeed have such a light. When I asked for a technical reference to prove this to the dealer, the rep took my name, the dealer name and generated a case # for me. He noted in the case entry that my car has the low washer fluid light from the factory. Now I had an offical case that needed to be resolved!
Confident that I was not "seeing things" that weren't on the dashboard, I made the appointement at the dealer and brought the car in 36-hours after opening the case. I told the dealer what the Toyota rep had said and that I had a case # that had to be resolved in 3-business days.
Ninety-minutes later the dealership called up and told me there is no sensor in the washer fluid jar and no bulb in the dashboard cluster! I was told that this car never had a low washer fluid light and the generic dashboard layout means no Corolla does! He told me I was seeing reflections caused by the Sun. I was floored! (After all, I'd seen the light several times over the first winter, the owner's manual clearly states I have this light and the people at the Toyota 800# agreed with me!) Thinking quickly, I protested that someone must have removed the parts for examinination when I initially brought it in with this problem months ago. He told me to come get the car.
I'm comfronted by two opposing realities: the people that do the repairs say there is no hardware in the car to fix, while national Toyota says it is there. Welcome to the "TOYOTA TWILIGHT ZONE" -- I feel like I'm trying to convince the dealer I saw a UFO on my dashbard!. Where's Scully and Muldor when I need 'em! I'm not sure if I'm going to follow-up with Toyota any longer. With all the bombing and shooting going on in the world, one AWOL dashboard light isn't worth it!
PS:
Also on the Mexico thing: "... assemble Tacoma pickup trucks at its new manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Baja California. Additionally, Toyota intends to invest $140 million (USD) in this plant, with a workforce of 460 team members when vehicle assembly begins in 2005."
