I haven't done it myself, because cutting through wire harnesses is too aggressive for me. Many have tried it though and according to them, it's effective. It seems to be the procedure recommended by Toyota.
I wonder if there are other ways to do it? What would happen if I remove the DRL fuse? Has anybody done that? Will it disable the DRL? Just a thought . . .
As for marc1045, are your bulbs burnt out? If your fuses, bulbs and connections are good, I suggest you bring your car to an auto electrician for inspection.
My car is only one week old and has only 300 miles on it. I definately dont want to open anything up or cut the wires. I'll check if fuse removal would work...

Doing it with the diy listed above is no problem. And you can connect them back together if you don't like it.
What would cause both the Daytime Running Lights and the Low Beams to stop working on a 2003 Toyota Corolla? Fuses are good.
whats the milage? you should be able to get it fixed as warrenty, if the car was made in 2002, than its too late unless you have extended warrenty.
fuses are one thing, its possible that your relay is stuck opened. if you don;t have any knowledge with electrical system, i suggest not to touch it, if hooled up wrong you can cause electrical fire.
to no avail. There were 3 I thought were for the systems but no combination would work. What they did was prevent teh lights from going to full strength.

if both the drl and low beams dont work, then have you checked the bulbs? Also for the drl, there should be a relay or a switch not a fuse. Also a test light will do wonders.
