I have a 1990 sr5 coupe and I am wondering how I would get to the top of the strut to remove it. In my research I have found that similar cars have access panels yet there is no information on mine and I can't seem to find any access panels.
Are you talking about the rear struts? You have to remove the outer seat panel. The 6" wide one at the outside of the seat-back. There should be one bolt under the panel at the very bottom. Undo that bolt and slide the seat-panel up and out.
Different on an SR5. Unlike a 4 door, the rear seat is only meant for 2 people, is narrower, and doesn't have the side seat pieces. From what I remember....
You have to fold down the rear seals, remove the side panels, remove the rim along the back window on either side, remove the speaker grills, remove the 3rd brake light, then remove the rear deck speaker cover.
In their infinite wisdom the top of the rear strut for the ae95 is encapsulated under that rear dash, which is essentially solid metal across and up the strut towers....
