Splitting dashboard

Is there any fix for a splitting dash?

I was looking at an '88 GTS for sale, but the dash is split up real bad and the sun roof is rusted and leaking.

this is a topic i posted up recently...
you either pay about 600 to get it professionally renewed, buy a dash cover... not the kind you just put on top but the kind that actually tries to make it look like you have a brand new dash.... or try what I'm doing, which I'm going to find out if it works or not... and that is fill the cracks, sand it, and then repaint it with vinyl paint.

look at this guy...http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...l-recovery.htm

it'll take some work but you know if its worth it or not...

I thought about doing it like you are, but having never done it before, I wasn't a little unsure.

I still say wreckers, bring some cleaner and pull one that is nice out of there. Will cost you alot cheaper, and it's alot easier in the long run.

Coupes are rare around here. I have not seen many in salvage yards. I know of one, and it is the wrong color, and I think the dash is gone from it.
Will the dash from a 4dr fit?

Anyway, the guy wants too much for that car, considering it's condition:
1)Dashboard cracked.
2)Sunroof badly rusty and leaks, switch intermittent.
3)Drivers door rusted out on the bottom, inside.
4)Drivers door arm rest crushed.
5)Back seat, right hand seat back twisted (has a big gap when up and locked)
6)Seats have cigarette burns, drivers seat worn through on left side bolsters.
7)Trunk release cable broken.
8)Dent in body behind passenger door.
9)Exhaust system leaking.
10)Numerous rust spots inside engine bay around headlight mounts and radiator, and on lower parts of the body.
11)Paint looks like it was applied with a roller in some places.
12)last but not least - knocking in the cylinder head near #1.

He said $2500, I said $800, he said $2000, I said $800...........No deal

depends on where you live... I live in texas... so all dashes are cracked at all wreckers. The heat bakes them and cracks them.

ah well here where I live the wreckers have ae92 coupes and on top of that alot of the dashes are decent.
I think the 4 dr dash fits, but it's a different shape and layout.
