Wow header bolt melted off...

I just wanted to comment cuz I didn't know it could happen. I've been gunning it alot in the past week. Then it sounded like a gasket was leaking, I check under my hood and then whoops all my header bolts are gone and the one still in is barely on... I took it out and it had melted off. I've had different headers for years and i've never tightened the bolts, of course I drive pretty normal most of the time. Maybe my motor runs hotter when I floor it with the cams so it shrinks the bolts even more than before and that's why it fell off this time. I was told that I'm suppose to tighten them every month... It sucks though cuz now I have to extract that one that melted off... at this point I hope that's the only one because I honestly don't feel like taking my radiator off just to get my drill in there. I wanna just hold it by one bolt short for now... thought this might be educational to post to those that dont know.

Header bolts _cannott_ melt off.. if they'd get so hot to melt, your engine would of been toast along time before that.
They most likely got sheared off. Is the manifold stainless steel? if it is, you need to have more clearance in the bolt holes than with mild steel, because stainless expands more. If the fit is tight, they will shear all the bolts off.
