Swaybar and struts, tires?

I though i remember seeing someone that posted in a thread about selling their groundcontrols if so pm me please!

Also, any suggestions on swaybar struts, and tires for an ae92 sr5?
My struts are shot. I've wasted money on my supra just going by what i "thought" was good and worth it, so i figured ill ask before doing so i dont waste money and time again. Both i have little of hah.

sway bars = whiteline, I have a rear one and I love it.

sturts: depends on what you're using the car for, GR2s are ok stock replacements (they're a bit stiffer than stock), but if you're going to lower it a lot and/or race it, I would get some GT-S stock struts and put koni yellow inserts in them but they're also expensive $$$$.

tires: don't bother trying to find good tires for the stock 13s, I tried, and failed... get a set of 15" rims and then look around. after that it again depends on what you're using the car for.

for tires you will need to find what YOU prefer. Some people like softer tires with softer sidewalls. I don't like the sidewall to flex. I liked the 16's I put on my corolla. Lost some speed taking off the line but the car was glued to the road in the corners . I had fuzion ZRI's.. I need 2 new ones thought the old fronts look like racing slicks lol

this is related..I've got a 92 corolla DX 4-door, theres a GT-S at the local junkyard near me. If I grab the rear sway bar from it is it a gaurenteed bolt on? Anything else I should grab off it, unfortunatly theres only one strut left in the front...thanks!

if you already have a rear sway bar, the GT-S rear sway bar is the same size. they're both 13mm.

weird, I thought all corollas came with rear sway bars... they'll still fit, if you drill wholes in the floor to mount them (if the holes aren't there already) and if you have brackets on your struts to mount the links too.

anyways, i can say def. no rear sway on the sedan

Yeah, no rear sway bar on mine either, What will the brackets on the struts look like? I dont wanna go through the trouble of grabbing this outta the junkyard if i cant use it haha. Also i read i'll have to remove the gas tank in order to get the bar on and off, but i also read something contradicting that so i'm a little confused on if I do or not, seems like a lot of trouble for a sway bar.

Also do I have to grab the struts off the GT-S if i dont have the mounting brackets on my 'rolla?

this is what u need here: the entire sub-frame would be helpful but the rear most suspension arms, sway-linkage and bar is obviously a must for your car...

also get the rear disc at the same time: more noticeable upgrade

if you don't have the mounting brackets on the rear struts then yes. you need either SR5 ones or GT-S ones, or you could just buy new KYB GR2s, they have them, and they're decently cheap (and won't be blown)

you don't need anything else for the rear sway bar except the bar itself, 2 links on either side that connect to the struts, and the brackets and bushings that bolt into the body. you don't need to rear subframe at all unless you're getting rear disc brakes.

also, you don't have to drop the tank. if you do it right, you can wiggle it in (I got mine out fine when I upgraded mine). to get a thicker aftermarket one on, you might have to disconnect one of the tank straps, but you still don't have to drop it, and the other strap is strong enough to hold it up by itself.

to do the front one it's a lot more complicated, you'll need a GT-S front subframe and both front control arms if your sway bar was designed for a GT-S. If it was designed for a sedan, (like a recently discontinued whiteline front bar), then you won't need anything.

hope this helps

jmaz: you have a rear bar on yours already don't you? where did you mount the brackets to the body? did it already have holes?

no, you don't need the whole subframe, the bar doesn't connect to the subframe at all.

my front and rear sway bars came from an FX-16, essentially the AE82 hatch, from what im told they should just go right in.

and i'll need a rear sub-frame to do a rear disc? i didn't know there was a rear sub-frame
