Hello, would someone please show or explain to me how the rear speaker grilles mount in the Coupe? I see they have four rectangular friction clips but since the previous owner put in some aftermarket speakers the mating piece must be missing.
I know the sedan grilles are attached to the interior panel so those are different.
They just bolt down with 4 screws into a plastic ring mounted to the body. the speakers aren't any normal size though, and the have a big bracket on them where the stock speaker covers attach.

I will have my coupe back in about 2 weeks from now...and I can take some photos at that time and post them. Check back with me if you do not have an answer by then.

Yes, thank you. That would be helpful. I think eage8 answered my question somewhat but a good pic always does good.
My '90 is factory stock and untouched...so I can get you some good pics. I drove it 300 miles through the snow to pick up my kid from college. Since the weather was so bad, I used her 4x4 to drive back and left my car back at the apartment. Will be going back in 2 weeks to bring my car home and will take the pics and post with view from the trunk and back seat.

here is a picture of the actual stock speaker, I had one in the closet.
those long holes are where the speaker grill clips into, and the small circles are where it screws into the stock plastic mount.
Thank you eage8, that is exactly what I need to know. Seems I'm missing that metal bracket. Guess I'll have to make one. If I could bother you for one more thing, would you please give me the width of the long holes? The length is not as important.
KCWA, thank you, for the help/offer, but I think I got all that I need.
I put aftermarket speakers on my car, it just so happens though that my covers fit around the speakers and they sort of stay put, sometimes they come of though as they're not a perfect fit.

I don't currently have my digital calipers with me, but using a tape measure they appear to be about 6mm or 1/4 in.
