This has been coverd a few times. I'm pretty sure the only one is a TRD one, but those are tough to find. Also, those are designed for the drivier being on the opposite side, so unless you cut and reweld, the shifter will be closer to the passenger seat rather than the driver's.

Two ways to find a short shifter...either do a search on this website or check out the links to this website where I have already done the search for you:

1989 corolla sr5
Interior Mods???
TRD Quickshifter install
this may be a stupid ?

I got my TRD one off ebay. the shifter leaning to the other side really isn't that bad, you get used to it.

I also saw a C's short shifter on ebay one time too, but that's also a Japanese company so I'm sure they'll have the same problem and they're even more rare.

I fabricated one myself for my Tercel by just cutting 2 inches out of a regular shifter and having a machine shop weld it at the angle I wanted.

Donald has an excellent point...maybe grab one from a junk yard and cut it like he said. Save the original one to put back in case the welded one does not work out like you want it to.

look up "AE92 short shifter kit" or at least include the AE92, a lot of people can't find them because they keep trying "corolla" instead of the chassis code.

as for the TRD JDM shifter kits, their not bad, it leans to the right a bit but its manageable.

there's one right there

it'll work in your SR5, it's the same one I'm using.

and about cutting the top off the stock one... it's not really the same thing. real short shifters raise the pivot point of the shifter so you actually have to move it less, they don't actually shorten the shifter any most of the time.

you could get a TRD one and cut the top off it for a super short shifter
