seeking 88-92 4WD corolla wagon, vancouver island area
hey, new to this forum - i've been a big fan of the 4WD corolla wagons for a long time and my current wagon (1991 vw passat) is in the garage so i decided it's time to find my dream car. i've been searching on various used sites here but haven't had any luck so i figured this might be a good place to put the word out. i live on vancouver island but would go to vancouver or the surrounding areas for the right car in very good condition.
and if i'm putting this in the wrong thread just let me know and i'll relocate. thanks!
they're very hard to find now, unless you're buying one direct from Japan.
try outback imports out of the Yukon, they specialize in bringing 4WD vehicles out of Japan and the Corolla wagon is one of them, here's their past sold wagons.
watch Bellingham Craigslist in WA..... my friend just picked one up in need of a motor for $150.... not too long ago there was another one on there as "offer a price"..... they're around here quite a bit.

Also, try www.kijiji.ca they have a lot of canadian cities, including a lot of BC cities like Vancouver, Nanaimo, Vernon, etc.. give them a try as they're a very popular free classifieds site.
Be aware that most of the ones by Outback Imports are right-hand drive. Since you live in Vancouver, BC, you don't have to deal with importing them. (U.S. import regulations require that vehicles being exported from Canada to U.S. for business sale be 25 years or older: therefore, given that the oldest of these was made in 1988, they can't be imported legally. Plus, if you live in California, there are catalytic converter regulations to be met.)
I recently saw a posting for left-hand drive one with a blown motor for $550 in New Jersey on one of the used car sites (forgot which site, though).
i'm actually kind of psyched about the right hand drive thing, it would be pretty exciting, but i'm wondering about parts for RHD vehicles - does anyone know if they use the same parts as the LHD ones for fuel, air, and oil filters? and beyond that, do side-specific parts like cv joints mirror those of a LHD? for example, if i need to replace a cv joint on the right side of a RHD vehicle would it be a simple matter of buying a left cv joint for a LHD? ...or are they different parts entirely that i would need to buy from a specific dealer?
hope that makes sense. thanks again for all your help, you guys are great.
I have a friend who is selling a 1989 4x4 corolla wagon like the one in the picture, but not so mint! He is in Campbell River at 250-923-6578. His name is rob. Myra
That is a pretty spiffy looking car, thats for sure. I'd like a pushbar on the front of my Sprinter Carib. It'll probably have some roof-racking by summer for kayak season! =D
Dunno if that link works from there, but as of the day of me posting this message, that car was for sale for $1200. Looks really nice in the pics, if anyone is in the market.
If I could afford it, I'd grab it for spare parts for my car, even the marker lights are the same as the Sprinter! =P

With reference to the above I bought a good one in Washington, it was advertised on craigslist. Because it is over 15 years it does not require the Federal Vehicle Safety Inspection, however it has to undergo the Provincial out of province inspection.
