Actually, tbfreak, that's as good a location as any for the turn signals. If you were oncoming towards me, I'd like to know if you were planning on going straight or turning left in front of me. And if people are not responsible enough to use their turn signals and do a head-check before they merge/switch lanes, it really doesn't matter where they're placed.
If you wanted to use the corner lamps as turn signals, couldn't you just swap the wiring over, from the original turn signals in the bumper to the harness for the bulb in the corner lamp? Probably have to make it an amber bulb though, since the yellow reflector would only work for the sides.
Hmmm, wheels are turning now....

i would like to do the same for mine, but, i would like for the corners to still act as the running lights yet 2nd as the blinker. while still using the original blinker. and once i install side markers i would like the side marker to do the same, both running light and blinker. if i can do that i will also do this to the rear side marker..
that's a total of 10 turn signals all together...sweet.

You will need to find double fillament bulbs and sockets to fit into the corner lights.
Another option would be to just add a marker light to the side of the fender and wire it into the turn signal system.

corolla-racing.com tech section long ago had a way (which it's setup in my car) having a standard single filament bulb in place and have the bumper/corner lamp alternate blinking when the blinker is on, and have the coner bulb on when the lights are on (as usual)...... might still be there.... you need one relay on each side and then the wiring directions should be up (if that site's still up, lol)

Yeah! I can see how that would work. Neat idea.

kinda not sure if i understood so im just making sure lol. so when you use your blinkers and you have your corner lamps on, the corner lamps turns on and off like a blinker and when you turn your signal off they just stay lit? cause if that's what you're talking about then thats a great idea, can you give us the link? thanks
My JDM corolla sedan came with corner lights that would work as binkers too. When I "upgraded" to the USA corolla corners, I lost that functionality maybe you already wired for it, just try with a JDM corner housing to see, I tried to figure out on my car how to do it, but gave up because of lack of time.
I had orange peanut bulbs in H4 headlamp housings, which I had wired by splicing the wires from the turn signals and into the peanut bulb connectors, I assume you could do the same with the corners, you could go to a junkyard and cut the wiring from another corolla and adapt it to yours... which is what I had done.

did yur jdm corner lamps came with a double filament bulb?

so im gonna tap into the connection of the blinkers?

I'm not talking about modifying, just changing the corners to the ones that came off the JDM corolla. Like these:
I remember they would blink with other blinkers as well, but I changed to the US corners and I lost this function, I believe the wiring on the back of the corner case might play a rol on this, combined with a dual filament bulb, as this corner has a bump to allow a bigger bulb.
Ok, i figured out how you can wire it so that your corner will function normally but when the blinker is applied it will flash. If the running lights are on, it will alternate with the blinker and if your running lights are off then it will flash along with the blinker. It requires two relays and two diodes per corner of vehicle (unless you feel like running wire from the front to the back of the car for the rears). I'll share it with you guys once I figure out how to post up a circuit diagram.
