Broken Drivers outside Door Handle

Hi, I have a 1990 SR5 corolla. It was about 20 degrees outside when I went to the car and pulled on my handle and heard a snap, but the door opened. At work I tried to open it but no luck. From the inside it opens. The door handle is in one piece. I am thinking something came loose. Does anyone know how to get this fixed. Do I need to take the whole door apart? Thanks for your feedback.

Looks like you will have to remove the interior door trim panel to access the opening mechanism. There is a image at this website that will give you a better idea:

probably the rod came off or the clip broke... yes, trim will need to be removed.

Thanks I'm going take off the trim and look to see if I could snap it back together when the weather warms up a bit. If its broken I saw a door handle on ebay for $20 including shipping.
