Canada 91 corolla insutrument cluster swap

Hi Guy,

I own a corolla 91 (old huh) but I love this car. My instrument cluster is with no tachometer. Does anyone know if I got an instrument cluster with tach, would it be a plug & play and would work with my car especially the tachomter working without running a separate wire for it. Meaning, just swap it and everything works, or would there be some problem.

Thanks Guys,

Canada 91 corolla instrument cluster swap

Hi all,

Does anyone know if I replace my instrument cluster from a non-tach to a with tach be just a plug & play. Just slap the new cluster with tach and connect the existing harness and everything working including the tach. Has anyone done this already and did it work? Meaning everything working fine, without connecting a separate wire to the tach to work.

Thanks

AE92

There's already a thread about tach conversions...

But the tach and tachless AE92 sedan instrument clusters are plug & play, no additional wiring needed. And swapping the mileage counter from cluster to cluster is simple as well, four screws.

correction : its simple as long as you dont drop the damn counter to the ground (luckily the one that i dropped by accident wasnt the one i wanted to use)

Well, if you break the counter you want, hopefully the other one would still work. You might need to take a powerdrill or something to spin it up to your mileage, unless it's pass your actual mileage. Then you can just drive out the difference with your speedometer cable disconnected until you think it's about right and connect it back :P (i will kill myself if someone actually does that)
