Canada Daytime running lights

Does any one know how to disable a daytime running light (DRL) on a corolla 91. Mine DRL is not just the headlight but the whole parklight including the rearlights turns on when I start the car. Thanks

bad news : if you removed them chances are that you will get a ticket from the police (doesnt know how much, depend on the area)

good news : easy, just make it so that the switch on the parking brake (yes its controlled by the parking brake) stay open

How do you keep the parking brake switch open? Where can you find this switch? Would the parking break light indication on the instrument cluster always be lit after doing so?

the light would not be open on the dash because its not the same switch that control the DRL

and do you at least know what open mean for electrical circuits?

How do you suggest I do this thing. I know that when you pull the ebrake, the circuit is closed, meaning continuity (or so I think). Can you please tell me what to do with the switch which I think is right by the ebrake.

era167, what is it that you're trying to do with the brake light?

I want to disable the DRL, and since it is controlled by the switch by the ebrake, i want to disable the e-brake switch to disable the DRL too. Any suggestion how to disable the DRL.

cut the wires to them?

Honestly I don't think the cops would even notice them missing here on a car that old... Since there are 88's and 89's that look identical without them. Thing is it will not pass safety without them unless the shop forgets to check for them. The shop I worked at probably would have missed them if they just weren't there at all since we would check what was ON the car and not necessarily a check list.

If somebody actually does this post up so I don't have to go through the work myself, but if what rookie is saying is true than it should be easy do and undo if you have to. I hate the fact that all the lights come on when your running no matter what, my 1994 toyota pick-up does the same thing.

my car 90 sedan has this two but my 92 didn't. the parking brake has nothing to do with it. i tried with mine when i installed my HIDs so i just hooked up my fog lights to them and ran a seperate relay and switch to my HIDs. i cant find a wiring diagram on the drl module tho so i cant figure it out. i hate it too

all of these lights run through your fuse block next to driver's leg.

if you don't want them on unless "switched on" just run a switch in-line and put it somewhere less obvious unless everything is obvious..:P

you can just barely see Red wires going into my block. spade connectors fit in nicely but you might want to chem them once in a while. the switches are black and between the steering column and center console

isn't your shifter a little on the short side?

even a wrx shifter is like an old lady's car to me...

The Corolla sedan is different then the SR5/GTS for DRL.

Referencing Fig. 18 of the diagrams (right side picture) below as far as I can tell, if you bypassed the R/W (red/white) wire going to the DRL relay from the multi switch and connect it to the R/W of the headlight relay it would bypass the DRL for the front. Looks like the same deal for the back with the G (green) and LtG (light green) wires to the back tail light relay.

It would be a good idea to take a volt meter and test these signals coming from the multi switch for power when you turn them on/off.
