just ask for the grey Fit in Place Gasket Maker at the parts counter. it's pretty good.
I use Permatex "the right stuff" for all my gaskets on my oil and water gaskets recently finished motor and it's worked great. It's more expensive but definitely some of the best stuff you can get. It dries like a dense, flexible rubber, not like a thin silicone. It bonds VERY well to metal aswell.. but if you're only doing the valve cover, it may not be worth the money.

when my valve cover gasket started to leak... I just bought a new one, cleaned the surfaces and put it on with nothing extra.. Hasn't leaked since... I also have removed the valve cover countless times and still no leaking with nothing more than just putting it back on and bolting it down
Toyota Parts Department should have them or else they would have to special order it. You should also consider changing the spark plug gaskets as well while the cam is open. I certainly didn't see any rtv sealant when I replaced my valve cover gasket but the Haynes repair manual for my 03 Camry did mention to use it and I based my repair on the corolla off the Haynes book for the Camry so it's your call.
I used some sealant to patch up the original gasket, it was all cracked and leaking, it worked but decided when I did the headgasket why not just replace it. Didn't really need to, the patched one was working wonderfully.
you guys have been awesome. i bought the ishino valve cover gasket set, with grommets and spark plug seals, i also want to paint the valve top even tho it is a lil flashy, but i would like to know whats next for me after this? this engine seems to be very difficult to find mods for.
i have drums in the back. how can i turn them into disc? do i need hubs from gts of same year, or can someone help on this?
I have some of what I need for that conversion. Not in a hurry to do it since the drums on the ae92 are fairly large for a car so light. But just find the whole rear subframe for a gts. I have one sitting in the garage, also make sure to get the brake proportioning valve off the firewall (piece I am missing) then buy new calipers pads and rotors and from the assemble!
