Overdrive on a DX sedan?

i have a 1990 corolla DX trim and it does not come with an OD, but i see LE trims having ODs on them, is there any hidden wires or anything to have an OD on my car? thanks

ok, now install it on the car and check the wirings diagram to know how to wire it (also : you can choose whether you change the shifter to the one with the overdrive button or to install another button for it)

For major undertakings such as this, it would help to have the TSRM handy. Also, you should probably get the ECU/harness from the 4-speed car.

no, if you dont have any overdrive on a AE92, then its a 3 speed

the 3-speed tranny and 4-speed tranny(yep the 4th speed is the Overdrive) are not the same thing

yup, My 90' Geo Prizm was a 4afe with 3speed. At Wide open throttle, 2nd gear was super long. The tranny would shift very early out of first into 2nd gear at anything less than full throttle leaving you out of the power band . Once you hit the top of 2nd gear though, the car would start to move pretty good with a nice shift into 3rd gear. Any speed above 65 and the car sounds like its straining but passing power is pretty decent since you're already in the power band and there is no downshifting from overdrive. Does this sound familiar to you?

I miss that car...

welcome to the world, you want overdrive? you need a new transmission

if you really want to change the transmission, install a manual one instead
