wouldn't you need a controller for them? most cars I know off have a separate controller that plugs into the OEM radio through the back... now finding an OEM radio that has a controller AND the steering wheel controls would probably be easier, BUT then there is no guarantee that the harness on the back of that radio will match to the one on the AE92s.

I have an adapter that allows you to use your factory steering wheel controls with your aftermarket cd player. I believe that is all I need. Maybe the adapter acts as the controller. I was thinking all I would need to do is take the unit from the steering wheel and wire it to the adapter I have.

I looked it up and I just need the unit with the buttons. I don't need a controller or anything. I realized that an easier way to do this would be to find a complete steering wheel with controls that I could just replace my wheel with.

How do I know what steering wheels will fit on my corolla?

I think you'd need more than just the steering wheel for this to work. The buttons and controls would have to have some kind of conductive ring on the column, (kind of like the one for your horn), since the steering wheel spins wiring directly to the buttons wouldn't work or woudn't last long twisting all the time. The whole column might have to be swapped out with one setup for steering wheel button controls. I'm not sure if a newer toy column would work or not. Google's your friend here I guess or call around to some custom auto shops and see what they say.

Okay given that that is an issue, I still would like to know which if any other car has a steering wheel that would easily fit. Or, if and how I could make a steering wheel fit that normally wouldn't.

Hub adapters that fit the corolla also fit some other random cars. Does this mean that the steering wheel from those cars will fit?

Have you considered getting wireless aftermarket controls? That would be the easiest if it works with your head unit.

Yeah, but they're not for me. The IR sensor on my deck is terrible, and unless you point the remote directly at the sensor, it doesn't work.
