Shift Cable Snapped?

CAR: 1992 Corolla

So today when I got home from school, I jacked up my car and I was going to adjust the shift cable. I followed the instructions in my Chiltons book. Whenever I moved the lever as far as I could right, it barely moved. Chiltons said to move the swivel two levers back but the lever never really moved much. I kept on with the instructions and it seems like the lever doesn't go down fully as it should? Is this a sign of a snapped cable?

Does it still shift into gear? I don't understand your thread... were you trying to adjust it at home and you snapped it or you think it snapped before you were trying to adjust it.

Detach shift cable from tranny and move the lever. Can it move?

It shifts into gear. I was trying to adjust it because I thought it might have been out of adjustment, maybe stretched, or partially snapped. For R, I get nothing. Car doesn't move, reverse lights come on. For N, the car acts like if its in a first. For D, the car takes all 3 gears, and 1,2 work fine too. It's just that whenever I had to move the cable to the right at first and then move it over two levers, it didn't move. It felt like the cable wasn't long enough or something.

If you're saying that I disconnect the cable from the lever, I did. The lever will move all the way to the right and back to the middle, no where to the left though, idk if that makes a difference.

If this helps, whenever my car is in park, the shift cable does not look like this Furthermore, when the car is in neutral, the shift cable is not in the middle of the switch, rather it is a little past 3/4s. Whenever the car is in park, the shift cable is at the neutral base line.
