Just wondering if anyone might have some pics of other AE92 3S-GTE Swaps. I would just like to compare mine with theirs, see if I can take a look at the wiring and stuff. My wiring is kind of messy in places, eventually I want to redo it. Plus I would just like to see some general photos, for reference and whatnot, maybe get some ideals.
Post pics of your own if you don't mind. As you might know, I'll probably be going this route eventually.
Also, post pics and ask any questions. I know a decent amount regarding the 3SGTE.
Okay, I'll post some pics in the next few days. I just haven't got a chance to go outside and do so, on account that its been -30*c outside here the past few days. It's supposed to warm up tomorrow though, above 0 so maybe this weekend. Hey is there VIN numbers accessible somewhere on the transmission or something like that so I can know for sure what kind of tranny I have? I talked to the original owner, he said its a celica tranny, other guy says its an mr2, back and forth, I give up. Original owner says engine will have to be repositioned, thats what is causing the axle vibration, but I recall the guy who sold it to me said he reset the engine, so hopefully now its just he didn't replace the warped axle. It's going to be a lot of work, I'm a little scared or overwhelmed by it all, but looking forward to learning and getting into it too.
Hmm... it should be a E153 tranny but I'm not sure what is the easiest way to check what car it came out of.
One way of telling if it came from a MR2 is the shift linkage would have to be repositioned to the back of the transmission. The linkage has to be on the side closest to the shifter and since the MR2 is basically a FWD engine put behind the driver, it's linkage is on the other side of the tranny as a FWD car. Look on the front and see if there are empty bolt holes where the shift linkage could mount.
Here is a few pictures i took today, The second one was supposed to be a good shot of where my slave bolted on but its kind of blurry and at a bad angle. The snow and frost that blew on the motor makes it look like there is corrosion or something, it doesnt actually look that bad. Also, I have the MAF and battery pulled out because of changing that slave.
Here is a couple shots of the slave if anyone knows what tranny its actually from:
Post from Corolla101 last night:
"yeah its celica transmission"
Post from Corolla101 when selling car like 8 months ago:
"Transmission is a 5 SPD out of an mr2 i think. Has LSD and shifts very smooth (might also be a rebuild) with a racing clutch."
okay now the guy is saying that the tranny is really from an alltrac, and they took off the transfer case. He also said he is pretty sure the motor does need to be repositioned. I got a friend that is going to help me do this repositioning crap, when that happens i'll take a bunch of pictures so everyone can see.
