While our 1989 Toyota Corolla SR5 had originally called for 175/70R/13 Tires, we had always used 185/70R/13 for at least 15 years. It appears very few tires stores now carry the 185 size. A quick search online found only Sears maybe still sells them. Maybe Firestone. I am now going back to the 175, while it is not as wide, it's not worth the hassle of trying to fight this Trend by the tire shops. The car is stock anyways, and probably won't change the handling enough to make any difference in just driving normal commute type driving. It's definitely no race car anyways.
It's just a shame these stores did this. We buy our tires at Sam's Club (
www.samsclub.com ) and Walmart also does not carry the 185. Hell, Walmart did not even have 13" tires in stock!
