USA 89 Corolla 4cyl Carbed motor

Hey everyone, I have an odd question that I am hoping someone can help me with. I have an 89 Corolla, with about 178,000 on it. I recently started having a weird issue with the car. One day when I was driving down the highway at about 75mph, i was hearing what sounded like something sparking. At first I just thought it was a pebble or something in my tire. I started hearing it more and thats when i realized it was like a sparking sound. something that helped with this was i noticed in conjunction with the sparking sound my radio was flickering. So i pulled off and pulled the radio (aftermarket) and noticed the plug wasnt seated perfectly for it so i took it apart and reseated it and started the car and couldnt hear anything again so got back on the road and got on the highway and it does it again! Got to my destination and still couldnt figure out anything, although i noticed that my battery had a lot of corrosion on it. went and had the battery tested the next day, it tested ok, but decided to replace it anyway because i noticed on the sides of the battery that they were indications that battery acid had probably leaked down the side or something and the battery was approaching 5 years old (I have only had it for a year) so figured it would be a good idea. Drive off and its fine. Leave work and it does the same thing again! It does this sparking sound for a few seconds any time i leave the car sitting for a few hours and start on down the road again, and for the life of me I cant figure out what it is. any accessories in the car flicker in conjunction with sparking sound. Also I might add that I had the alternator tested at the same time as the battery and it tested ok as well. Does anyone havie any ideas????? I am stumped. If you need any more info for a diag, please let me know! Thanks in advance!

Exclamation

In a dark place with no light run the engine and look for sparking...
the plug wires can be leaking fire to ground, or other bad wiring....

I agree with retire...do it during the night I could be the cables...when the sparking happens does it mess up with the radio other than just flickering...does it turn off? Do you have a system on your car? You could have a ripped speaker cable touching metal or another cable
