noisy oil pump?
My 91 dx has a ticking sound on the pulley side of the motor. One mechanic says its the oil pump..they are a very costly mechanic. Another mechanic..he is a ASE as well as the first mechanic things its a rod bearing or something and dont beleive a bad oil pump will make a clicking noise. The noise is kind of loud. Also the car is a manual and it looses power when the car is in the meat of its powerband...i dont have a tach so im guessing between 2500 to 4000 rpm. After it passes that threshold it runs like normal but it will not pull hilss either. The car has always been maintained very well and the problem started all the sudden. The oil changes were done every 3k sometimes a bit more but never over. The ticking sound never goes away. Has anyone any suggestions? The second mechanic says he would just part the car out since it is so old and its over 200k.
