Oil Gauge & Volt Gauge

Hello Forum, I have a 1991 Corolla DX 4 door sedan with the 4AFE engine. I already installed an instrument cluster with the tach (out of an LE model). I also want to install a SunPro Volt Gauge & a SunPro Oil Pressure Gauge in the center dash area under the a/c controls. I mentioned these brands because they are readily available in the local parts stores.

I have a few questions...

What else do I need to buy besides the gauges (which come complete with the lines)?

Where do the lines attach to?

Is this a difficult job to do?

Has anyone done this install before?
THANKS!

The oil pressure gauge line should screw into where the current oil pressure sending sensor is on the engine. You can find it I think just forward of the oil filter. You would unscrew that, take it out, and replace it with the line to your new gauge. Not sure exactly on the wiring for the volt gauge...didn't you get any basic instructions with the volt gauge?

voltage gauge, wire it into any switched 12V....

I personally would look for an electronic oil pressure gauge vs. one that feeds the oil into the engine....

+1

I'm not a big fan of any gauges that bring fluid into the car. Electronic gauges are they way to go.

Electronic Gauges? I don't think I've ever seen those but I admit that I also don't like the fact that fluid will be flowing to the gauge in the car. I just thought there was no other option. This being said:

Where could I buy these?

Are they as reliable as the regular gauges?

Are they hard to install?

I would like to see what they look like. Thanks for the info

There are a whole bunch of companys that make electronic gauges, just go to google and type in electronic oil pressure gauge and you'll get quit a few responses. Personally I don't have any experience with aftermarket gauges so I'm of no help there. Also check out JC Whitney, Jegs, or Summit catalogs as they'll also have a wide variety to choose from.

I want to put mine either in the space under the a/c controls or put them in the stock location of the radio & install it in the space under the a/c controls.

I don't know if it is worth the work of moving the radio down but I would definitely like the gauges at the same level as the instrument panel.
