Headlight buzzer?

Simple question:
Is there supposed to be a buzzer when headlights are left on when engine off?

My 90 GTS has a headlight OFF system that only works half the time, basically if you leave them on... sometimes it turns them off, sometimes it doesn't. Not sure where to troubleshoot it

My '89 SR5 turns my headlights off automatically too.... when the battery dies

my 89 doesn't have a buzzer either, it's lame, but then again, neither does my fiancee's '91 CRX... so I guess it just wasn't standard at the time

Does anyone have suggestions how to rig this to happen? Possibly splicing into the key buzzer??

I know Ghostyman will probably hate me for this since he just disabled his buzzers, but having the one for the headlights seems like a good idea. Key in ignition not so much...considering theres no way to lock mine in and God help the moron who steals the beast. It would probably be returned with a $20 bill in the ash tray b/c they felt sorry for me.

OK... maybe a better question is "Am I gonna screw anything up" by splicing in to the key buzzer?

Hmm, I'm not sure how the buzzer works; I think it is ECU controlled. Depending on how the circuit is set up, you could probably make it buzz when the ignition is off but the headlights are on. It would be a much better use of the circuit that letting you know the door is open.

If you had cheesy 80s pop-up headlights like the coupes, you'd be fine.
