Hesitation between 2000 and 3200 rpm

When driving in 2nd or 3rd at the above mentioned rev range the car is sluggish, especially when driving up hill, when the revs pass 3200 it revs as normal. the car runs great above that rev range.
The engine is a 4AFE 1600, I have changed distributor, plug wires, rotor brush, distributor cap, computer, coolant temp sensor, MAP sensor.
The o2 sensor is relatively new. the TPS and vacuum lines was also checked.
Pls give any ideas as to what might be the problem.
Thanks

I didn't mean a scanner. I meant a diagnostic computer.. that shows all the workings.. Spark timing and strength.. etc..
or keep messing with it..

These are pre scanners car aren't they? Your only diagnostic scanner as far as I remember is bridging T1 and E1.

Have you checked your timing with a strobe light?
Are there any modifications to your intake or exhaust system?
Automatic or manual?
