First, I got just few post overhere but I not a rockie at all in the mechanic. I have a done Landcruiser BJ70 engine rebuild, a Landcruiser BJ42 complet tear down and rebuilt and I have an all-trac wagon since 1999 where I have already met the most likely problems.
So here's my question: how difficult is to swap a cruise control from a vehicle to another (same) vehicle without the cruiser control ?
I have at this time a cruise control and I look at another all-trac without cruise control.
I looked under the hood of my car and realized that there probably more wires with the cruise control ... because I don't have the other vehicle in front of me, I do not know if the wires are not used. You know, sometimes there are sockets wires that lead nowhere because the vehicle was not sold with the option.
Is there hole for the vaccum on the car without cruise ? How about the switch ?
My cruise switch is beside of the rear def. switch (right side of the steering) and the rear window wiper switch is on the left side of the steering and there only one wire that go to the cruise control\defrost switch.
There something (wire ? rod ?) from the cruise unit that go on the firewall that is probably go to the cluster...
Well, I need your input about this swap. Did someone make it. Is it almost ''bolt-on'' or is there a lot af thing to fabric or adapt.
Salut.

There is a computer for the cruise control also.
Some cars have it incorporated into the ECU and some have a separate unit. On the Corolla I am really not sure.

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!
My 91 sedan didn't come with the extra wiring for the cruise so an aftermarket was the easiest.
Every SR5 and GTS 89-91 I've seen around here has had the extra wiring for the cruise so it was easy for me to install factory cruise. Ofcourse the multiswitch (cruise, wiper, turn signal) has to be swapped with one that has the cruise button etc. but thats easy.
What cruise did you install? I would like to add cruise to my 90.
Find the cruise setup from any model corolla 88-92 should work. I can't comment if the setup on the camry of the same years would work, I know the multi turn signal, cruise, wiper switch is the same on most model toys of those years.
I mis-understood. I thought you used a aftermarket cruise. Thanks. A trip to the u-pull-it is in order.
Don't forget the lever bracket hidden behine the gas pedal. For some reason on the corollas they used this to hold the throttle at the desired speed rather than at the throttle body itself. You'll have to drill and bolt it to the firewall where there is usually studs from the factory but not a big deal, two bolts and your done.
I saw that in the FSM but was not quite sure what it's purpose was. Thanks.
