cold start and many problems

Hi
I bought corolla 1997 a year ago but unfortunately the engine was swapped from a 1991 corolla which i came to know after 6months so nothing could be done at that time.
The car runs good and never been left me on the road ,i also have been on a road trip thorugh europe and drove around 5kmiles in a week.I was thinking of swapping the engine but this engine runs good and i plan to maintain it for another year.now the car has some issues which are.
Since the begining when i got the car it does not start in the morning?it only starts when i press a push down button in the dash which is connected to the cold start sensor switch.i want to know what is this and how can i make it like OEM....
secondly when it starts it stalls and i have to press that manual cold start button for 30 seconds and then it takes 2-3 min to stop stalling......what do do to fix it?do i have to clean the throttle body and IACValve and where are they located as i am not sure...
I think that the cars wiring are original and as i said that the engine is from corolla1991 so does that make any difference and one more thing to tell you guys that none of the sensors work on this car.....how can i get these fixed......I do not want to spend money to go to workshop coz i wanna learn and do it myself as i am going to satrt automobile engineering course next year...
Pls help me solve these problems.

Can't figure out why someone would get a 1991 motor and drop it into a 1997 chassis.

Likely, the wirings were not the same. So, in order to compensate, you have what you have... Cold start switch, etc. The engine need the sensors, just like a person needs nerves to feel or else you'll cut yourself and bleed to death without knowing. Cold starting pretty much allows an engine to run from a cold temperature, not specifically talking about 32 degree or anything, until the engine warms up to normal temps. Basically controls the air/fuel mixture.
