Fronts are 4". Very easy to change out.

Rear are slightly larger but I'm not sure if they're a standard size.

You obviously didn't look properly, I remember saying the stock sizes about 50times at least.

Searching is great and all... got a question myself: do regular 5.25" speakers fit in the rear bracket without modification?

I've put 4"s swaddled in rags back there right now but I'd like to put them one of my other cars and put 5.25s in the AE92 if they fit.

I have the 5.25" speakers in the rear. I used long bolts and screws in the mounting holes. The speaks stand up out of the holes in the rear deck that came with the car already pre-cut for the smaller speakers. Since they stand up by an inch or 2 over the rear deck, I took some of the heating and a/c tape that has a thick pad of pad insolation on the tape. This tape has a foil side to it and very sticky padded side. Wrap that around the exposed speaker part that sticks above the deck that cannot go down any further into the 4 inch deck speaker cutout hole.

I wrapped that tape around the sides of the speaker between the metal cutout on the rear deck and the speaker lip. It sealed it up great, looks good, even though no one can see the padded silver foil looking tape because the speaker cover, covers the speaker, plus they sit within 1" of the rear window. There is no rattle whatsoever and have been solid for 10 years now.

btw, 10 years ago I found a set of 4 new Polk car speakers for about $35 on eBay, they have been sounding great for 10 years!

^^^ Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I've got some Rockford Fosgate 5.25"s that I pulled out of my MR2 when I upgraded to Phoenix Gold 6.5" Ryvals. Nice to hear about the Polks working out so well for you.

Hmmm, well two different aftermarket 5.25" speakers I've bought have fit in the plastic factory bracket so far, can't say all brands will fit though.

Do you know which speakers you put in that fit? I've got 2 sets of 5.25s and neither of them fit. I just pulled the 4"s out to go in my new Geo and I'd like to put something in that will fit and is cheap (I'm thinking Boss, Roadmaster and Pyle quality.)

Lanzar is also pretty cheap but better quality than Boss or Pyle. Lanzar speakers are also pretty high powered...some of their 4" speakers I've seen support up to 90 rms watts, their 5.25" up to 120 rms watts

they're cheaper on onlinecarstereo.com

I've got Kenwoods all 'round. 4" in the front and 6x9's in the back...they're currently on old work shirts, but I'm going to put making enclosures for them as a priority. 20$ for the 6x9's, basically what I'm saying is that craigslist is god.
