Well, the Crutchfield Master Sheet looks like it's fulla shite, and I'm trying to figure out how come the glove compartment and knee panel are hanging up by the door jamb on the far right when I've removed every freakin' bloody screw and bolt that could possibly be holding it on (yes, the screws on the far right have been removed). As you can see in the pics below, it is hanging on by some unseen force. Seriously, posting here is my last resort before I get really pissed off lol.
Yes I searched "front speaker", "front speaker removal", and "front speaker replacement", and the results have unfortunately been less than illuminating, no fault of anyone here.
If someone has successfully replaced their front speakers, could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or rather, not doing?
Thanks in advance!

Got it. Turns out I had to remove the bolt holding the speaker enclosure behind the plastic speaker grille, which I had to pry off.
Thanks, though, Rookie!
Now I have to deal with the tweeter protrusion (stock speakers had no tweeter, just the whizzer cone), since the tweeter contacts the metal "phone-dial" grille behind the plastic one on the outside. I guess it's Dremel time...
Why does Toyota have to overcomplicate these peripheral components?! Grrr...

did you only try the right speaker install?? the left one is just as bad...the lower section just below the steering column comes off, but you have to hook the trunk release through that bottom half after taking off those 10mm bolts.
Found out that my factory speakers were made by Fujitsu!!

I did the entire install including the headunit the following day. Yeah, I had to Dremel the driver's side metal grille as well. Actually, the trunk release was easy, because it didn't go thru the hole, I just let the knee panel fall as a unit. I had to scrounge around for electrical crimp connectors for the headunit's wiring, and spent a lot of time stripping and crimping.
My system is not that great (Kenwood deck, 4" Alpine coaxial fronts and 5" Blaupunkt coax rears), but it sounds awesome since I installed it myself lol.

yeah the rear speakers were frustrating to get to because you have to take off the rear passenger seat belt bolts, then take off the rear deck upholstery cover to get to the screws
