Seal on Brand New dealer oil filter punctured

Ok, this is the second oil filter that I've bought from the dealer in the red
box and this one also has a small pinhole in the plastic seal over the filter.
(The filter comes with plastic sealing the open end, and the plastic has
a small pinhole poked near the center.)

First I thought was just a fluke but this one forms a pattern. Anyone else
get filters like this? Do they come from the factory like this for some reason
(maybe to allow water to evaporate out)? Or is there some psycho poking
holes in the filter seals?

who cares about the plastic seal. We sell filters and alot of them come without any plastic seal, others have the seal already torn of from the shipping from the factory.

Id say not to worry.

One was for 6th gen, one for 9th gen. Same pinhole prick in the center of the plastic wrapper.

the filters I buy don't even have seals....

as long as there isn't oil in it already you're fine

it's probably to prevent the air inside the bag from expanding in a low pressure situation and popping the bag.
