ae92 on the auto-X

From the list below..... you can see how the ae92 did! My 7ag aw11 needed bearings and nobody could get them in time, so I ran the ae92.....

2007 Mazda Miata
1972 Porsche 914
2002 Mini Cooper S
1992 Mazda Miata
2004 Subaru WRX STI
2007 Subaru WRX STI (1st)
101 1988 Toyota MR2 SC
1985 Mazda RX-7

After me I don't remember the order, wasn't paying attention too well. 3rd was about 1/2 second faster than me but 5th was like 2 seconds slower.....

haha, funny you should ask......

the wheels are 15" oldschool Enkei wheels... they came on my wifes 86 mr2.... the tires weren't in bad shape......

after a few years of driving on them the front inner's were showing wear, so I pulled them off her car. Last auto-x I had 2 Kumho's mounted (because the other 2 were fine) on them so that I had wheels other than stock on my aw11....

however, to make matters worse about a year before I pulled the wheels of my wifes car she got a flat and I had a shop put on a spare ES100 I had lying around on it.

so... 4 wheels and 3 different tires.... tread ratings are almost all the same (except for the es100)....

I really should put the other 2 Kumho's I have (but they were given to me with about 90% tread because the guy who gave them to me put some nice flat spots on them and I'm not sure I want those on the steering wheels)

What class do you run?

Because of my engine swap, I am now in Street Modified

We had an event on Sunday. and I placed 4th in a field of 5 cars.
1st '87 BMW325is, 2nd '91 Nissan 240sx, 3rd '02 Subaru WRX, 5th '92 Civic hatchback.

My time was fair. I placed 58th out of a total of 85 cars for raw time. That is about the same as when I had the 4A-GE engine in, just that now I am in a higher class.

I won the championship for the STS class last year with the 4A-GE. I just barely beat a '89 automatic Civic.

I have been running Falken Azensis tires, but two are worn, so I ran the two good Falkens on the front, and two Nitto Neogens on the back. The Neogens are now my street tires, and seemed to work very well for autocross, even though I only got them on Friday. I am planning to go to the Nitto NT-01 for autocross, I hear they are very good

Oh! Congrats!!!

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!

meh, I would have rather run the aw11 with a 7ag or the aw11 with a gze in it.....

I just run in Novice, but to be quite honest out of the ~50 cars total I was probably in the top 10 for the day.... there seems to be a lot of fast novice's in Chuckanust sports car club..... Fastest car of the day was a turbo'd EG, then after that was an S2000 (IIRC). Depending on the car I drive will determine what class I'm in next year.

the last auto-x I ran my 7ag but little did I know at the time it was having no timing advance (stuck at like 12*) so it was super slow. Friend of mine ran my gze car and got the 2nd fastest scratch time (behind a modded 323 gtx with a really good driver), and that was with battery problems not giving him any runs in the morning....

I'm running Azenis on my rx7 and they're really not that great.

If you're going to get a new set I would highly recommend the new kuhmo ecsta XS's. My fiancee has a set on her miata and they're really nice. They also won the most recent grassroots motorsports tire shootout.

dunlop direzza star specs are also really nice, but they don't make the correct size for a corolla with 15s

Ouch!!!

I think I need to build a "Track only car".
Probably a FX-16 or an AE92 sedan, and run in the stock or STS class.
