Question Weird cold idling problem.

So I have a AE92 4A-GE, and basically, when I start my car up in the morning, it always idles up to about 2500 rpm, then after it begins to warm up after like 5 minutes at least it will slowly start to drop down to normal as it gets warmer. I know it's normal to idle a little bit higher until its warm, but 2500 rpm is way too high, more like 1200 would be acceptable.

Is there any way I can fix this, or adjust it maybe? Any help appreciated. thanks.

did you adjusted the throttle screw on the intake manifold? Mines all the way down and it does the same thing. I think its a combination of age and probably a vacuum leak some wheres.

Hmm well I'll try that. Where exactly on the intake manifold is the screw located? Near the TB? Or is it that spot right in the middle in visable sight?

They all idle high... change your thermostat and see if that does anything.

Man I'm really not sure where that idle screw is. All I see is the two bolts that seems to adjust the throttle cable tightness, is that it?

No, there's a small black round cap on top of the manifold on the corner closest to the intake pipe, take it off and its right there.

Ahh thanks. Found it now. I idled it down from 1000 to 800 rpm. This might help my cold start idle problem a little bit, but I dont think it will quite fix it. I'll have to wait till later to find out once the engine cools down.

Thats so weird. When I used to have a 92 celica with the 4AFE engine it only idled like 1200 rpm at max cold, then dropped to 800 rpm. Thing ran great.
