Upside down valve springs?

So I had an oil consumption problem on my 1990 ae92 high comp, it seemed that it ate a litre of oil every tank of gas. At first it burned it and blue smoke came out the back end, but that eventually stopped. Now it shoots pure oil out the back of the muffler as seen in the picture below. A friend of mine said it was probably the valve oil seals so off came the sparkplugs and wouldn't you know it, the first spark plug was smothered in wet oil. So the engine just had new rings and a headgasket replaced and I dont want to remove the head, its possible to replace the oil seals without taking the valves off right? Oh.... and almost all the valve springs are upside down with the exception of 1 or 2... is that relevant to the oil issues I'm having. How is that detrimental to my engine? Of course I will fix this but its been running just fine besides the oil consumption with the upside down valves.

Heh, it happens... all I can do is try to fix it. A couple of my friends actually the head job a while ago but a mechanic did the rings. Its a pretty solid engine besides the fact that the springs are upside down but yes I did go back and was like "WTF? its like some one randomly shoved the springs in... which one of u was it?"

Doesnt matter, they're symmetrical. Oil doesnt blow out because of valve springs, they just keep the valves closed. Valve seals are what you should change.

Okay sounds good, now I'm planning to replace the seals with some extra ones I got in my valve grind kit for me ae86. Are they compatible or should I go to Toyota and order the proper ones. Is it possible to change these seals by hand without removing the head and valves? I would like to make this a quick job without removing too much and draining anything.

mine doesn't shoot out oil... but it is going through a lot of oil and it won't pass emissions.
