Did you install it yourself or have a mechanic do it? Where did you get the part if you did it yourself?

If it 'went bad' that fast and you didn't do anything silly like holding the key in the "start" position
for an extended period, I'd guess it's some sort of loose connection either with the selenoid or
the main windings. Does it click when you try to start or do nothing at all? Giving the starter
a solid knock with a hammer can sometimes unstick a stuck selenoid.

Not sure what you mean by 'getting hot'. If you held the ignition in the start position trying to
start the car you may have smoked the starter. Otherwise, I'm sure the starter case itself will
heat up due to heat conduction from the engine block and that is normal and designed into things.

I'd suggest swapping out the starter then. I see a lot of remans come back defective. what was the brand?

make absolutely sure youre cables are in good condition. A Starter should not have gone out that soon, even, especially if it were from those stores. Glad you got that warranty. My suspspicions are either the cables or battery.

warranties don't mean sh!t if your alternator is also sh!t... if it's not charging the battery properly it will kill it.

Actually warranties really don't mean anything... only difference is the quality of the lead and acid in the casing.... I've seen brand new optimas fail.

Reman starters sometimes are bad..... however, try checking your cables first. Negative cables that are loose on Toyota's cause starting problems all the time. If you are unsure, use a jumper cable from the negative to the engine to see if that does anything (quick and easy test).

He means to put the jumper cable on the negative terminal on your battery, then ground the other end to the engine or on a bolt somewhere on the body, then try starting the car again.
