Canada 1991 Corolla LE Low Fuel Indicator

I just got my 1991 Corolla the other day...pretty dang happy with it so far..

The reason I bought it is because it is really good on gas.

After I picked up the car, fuel was almost on E..I figured I'm just gonna drive it home anyway..Low Fuel Light comes on, travelled about 15 more kms, I reached the gas station, filled up full,32 Liters.

I don't get it, Isn't it supposed to be a 50Liter tank? Why did the light come on when the tank still has 15 Liters?

Gas indicators are notoriously unreliable. Not just on these cars, pretty much across the board. 15L is about 4 gallons - sounds about right for when the light would come on.

In a '96 Ford Explorer, the light would come on with over 5 gallons in the tank. I once drove 75 miles after the gas light came on and didn't run out of gas (fortunately... pretty desolate area).

15liters is closer to four gallons than three.

The light doesnt mean you already ran out of fuel it means you're already on "reserve"

Oops, you're right... typo on my part. Edited my initial post.

I tend to just drive until I've gone about 300 miles and then fill up.
