could be leaking oil from the distributor area, very common on the 4AGE motors.

Also make sure that your oil cooler lines are ok and not rusted, even the clamps, I had problems with those before.

ren69 is right. I recently replaced the valve cover gasket and sparkplug tube seals. there was still oil on the top of my tranny. you might wanna take your air filter or airbox off so you can get a better view of where the oil is coming from. my friend has a 91 4door. 4aFe it had that exact problem. it was leaking from the seal that holds the oil from coming out the distributor port.

My 88 SR5 4af has an Oil leak and I used a cheap UV dye to locate it 1 bottle and 15 mins later I found it leaking from the Crank oil seal and Oil pump gasket area and for 14$ I got a complet gasket kit that has pump/puller gasket, O-ring for dip stick and Crank seal

the dye works great if your engine its all that clean like mine is

yea. when I bought the car it was so dirty. I couldn't stand it. the first thing I did was use some black magic spray and cleaned the whole thing. you could eat dinner off my valve cover.

If your oil pressure sending unit is located in the vicinity of your leak that could be the culprit.
