the 4age smallport block/bigport head hybrid has been installed in my coupe, along with the brand new clutch.. but i ran into a problem, after removing the a/c we couldnt find a proper solution to keeping the power steering going b/c when u remove the a/c pump, you cant correctly run the belt and we tried running it around the tensioner but it broke shortly after, shredded.
so im curious if there ever was a dx model with no a/c using the 4afe, and if so then i was hoping to use the no a/c bracket and that it would bolt right up to the 4age block... hopefully if this works it would allow me to run with power steering, b/c without it the car feels really heavy and is annoying to drive.

makes no sense to me, why didn't you leave the compressor on??

well, if i left the compressor on it would be dead weight and asn eyesore since its not actually doing anything other than functioning as a pulley, so i didnt want it to be ghetto and im trying to make things as neat and tucked as possible in the engine bay, but if i have to run it i will. but im going to hunt down an ae92 w/ no a/c and see if the bracket will work, and im guessing i'll need to grab the belt from that car too, as they are probably different.
Um, I live in Washington.... about 20 miles south of the BC border..... farm from AZ
However, I do know Canada cars have odd things that we don't..... the coupes have driving lights (we didn't get) and also it was much more common to have manual mirrors on the coupes... again, something I haven't seen on an ae92 coupe in the US.

ah the fx16 ... right!! trying to hunt down either the alt or ps bracket, from car-part.com
found an 87 fx16 w no a/c and if im not mistaken just the fx were the 4ac and all the fx16 were 4age so i think the bluetops from the fx16's may be where to look..
lol my Car is a AE92 4A-GE and it doesn't have AC. I saw another car like mine at the junk yard with no AC as well. There's probably plenty of more 4A-GE's without AC.

WTF? Where did I get AZ from?
Sorry, lol.

(The lights added were added in 1990 to comply with DRL laws here in Canada, they are very low wattage DRL's, and don't do much else.)
i searched for salvage yards in/near kent wa and came up with a few but the only thing that came up close to kent was in renton and is called turbo transport but that seems to be more of a towing operation. can you tell me the name and location of the yard where you saw the 4age with no a/c? if it wasnt too long ago, im hoping they can ship me the bracket.
Get the idler from Canada. A/C was dealer installed up here, there are tons of 4A-GE's without A/C that have P/S.
(Also, it was an option in the USA too, so there should be some down there without).
Jeff
I have a smallport with no AC, I'm actually getting a smallport WITH AC from a US car... I also have the DRL lights.
Comparing the US car to ours down here, the dashboards are a bit different, the US glovebox was bigger and it's got a hump on it whereas the CDN one is just flat.
