Look up reviews on the INTERNET all you need to do is search google. Be weary of some reviews because for some it is their first suspension upgrade so they have nothing to compare it to and in that situation its still the greatest thing ever to them. Pay attention to reviews from experienced people... Especially reviews with cold hard facts. There is some shock dynos out there that will prove what low quality they are.
Shock adjustments not working, corners all different stiffeness, too stiff, poor quality shocks in general. My friend who has a set of ksports for a bit more than a year has blown 4 shocks and got his replacements not long ago and has already blown another. Ask anyone who has a lot of experience with suspension.
$1000 dollars is very low cost when it comes to coilovers which are generally for RACING by the way. Or well having a height adjustable suspenion for your show car or something. Other than that coilovers are useless unless you are actually going to be setting corner weights. They are no good for winter either by the way... not designed for the weather.
If you are going to be doing something like racing down a canyon you best do it as safe as possible with quality products... unless you want to trust your life to $1000 coilovers made in taiwan. I'm sorry but they wouldn't be safe in my opinion to do any canyon RACING which would have variations in pavement surface. If you car is slammed with stiff springs/shocks it will be easily upset from even little imperfections and changes in pavement and its surface(like leaves/gravel). Canyon racing would be difficult with even a well designed car like an s2000 for example because of all of the changes. Throwing in a unstable unreliable stiff suspension would make it only worse.

This.
They are just as cheap to purchase because it requires some diy or some aid from a shop which would bump up the cost a bit. You don't get the camber plates but those can be purchased elsewhere. They've funtioned well for many people. GC and Koni are both reputable companies, koni shocks are well made they aren't always perfect by any means but they are very acceptable. Most of all affordable.
and REN69 Cusco Coilovers can still be ordered... $$ though.
