Engine swap - Plentiful and compatible

Have a 91' Corolla with the 16v 4AFE motor developing a mechanical knock.

What year/models should we be looking at for engines that are going to be a bolt in. (Don't even want to muck with wiring harnesses).

So far, all I have come up with is 90-92 Corolla and Prizms.

Well 88-92 Corollas are the same... 4AFE engine should be easy to find, it was used a lot. Even from 90-93 ST Celicas should work fine. And yeah the Prizms had them as well. I can't think of what else does.

88-89 corollas had carbed 4AFs....

there is also one prism gsi I think? that had a 4age, so you don't want that one either.

for just a complete plug in and go an 90-92 corolla sedan or SR5 would be your only choice I think.

Except for the ALLTRAC wagons in 89 that came with the 4AFE and of course the GTS, yes they're all Carbed pretty much.
