Drive train noise

Hey guys I need opinions on the following situation.
whenever the car is in gear and accelerating there is a loud bearing type sound, when the car is decelerating or in neutral the sound goes away. It is louder in the lower gears.
I guess it may be rpm related.
My ride is a 1990 DX 5spd

Have you checked the transmission oil? It's doubtful that would be it but its worth a try.

it could be the throw out bering on the clutch(best case scenario). had that happen on an old maxima I had sound was real bad in gear but when you put the clutch pedal to the floor it would go away instantly.

does it make any sort of the noise while parked at idle? even if not you can try an old trick and take a long screw driver and carefully put it against different parts of the tranny and engine in attemp to pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

+1 on checking the fluids.

any info like a better description of the sound or a link to a you tube of it could be really helpful.

The gear oil level was checked, its ok,
The car makes a dry bearings sound only when accelerating.
When coasting or stationery there is no noise.
The noise stops when the clutch is pressed in.
Could it be axles or the gearbox?
Will try the screw driver idea though.

the throw out bering or the clutch bering (same thing) is essentially a dry bering besides being greased upon insertion. sometimes they just burn up over time. could be that thats it. if that ends up being the case they are cheap and usually come with a clutch kit. its easier than anything else to fix. its most likely not an axle. I would say it could be a wheel bering but that would be tied to motion overall speed and weight transference through turns. could be engine brings or bad tranny bearing's.

good luck

Wheel bearings makes sounds whenever it's moving. Diffs makes sounds whenever your turn, same goes with axles.

If the noise stops with the clutch pressed, I'd say it's the clutch bearing. I'm guessing the loudness of the sound would be RPM related, since in lower gears you tend to get into higher RPMs faster while in 5th you're running at lower rpms unless you're speeding.

Worse case is the tranny.
