AE92 Underhood Temps

What's about the est. temp the engine should be running around?

My engine cooling systems working fine. It's just that it feels there's a lot more heat under the hood than has to be. The hood gets hot! Steam comes off of it when it's wet. I was thinking about putting a heatshield liner on the underside of the hood and on the firewall...

the thermostat opens at about 82 degrees C. engine temps will vary from there to about 105. an infra red thermometer will tell you quickly what temperature your engine is operating at.

check your ignition timing to make sure it's not retarded.

Yeah, water evaporates from the hood when hot, alot of cars do it. Mine gets so hot that you cant even touch the hood, you could fry eggs on it, but thats cause I have the turbo right under the hood.

I mean it just feels like it's hotter than should be. I just want the hood to be cooler than how hot it gets.

I've been meaning to check the temps but keep forgetting the damn thermometer I use for my r/c car.

That might be hard to accomplish, its metal and absorbs and transfers heat.
