Brake Light always ON

So yesterday i noticed that the brake light is staying on all the time even while i have the car turned off and the key is out. I have seen that many of you have issue with the light not working but my issue is that other way around.

Could switch for the brake light be pushed down even while the brake pedal is up? Any other thoughts?

It's a 92 btw.

Thanks

look at your brake pedal arm just below the hinge.
There will be a tab that operates the brake light switch.
On that tab should be a rubber pad.
If this pad is missing, that will probably be the problem.
If the pad is there, and it has the switch pressed all the way in, then the switch is bad.
If the switch is not pressed all the way in, then it needs to be adjusted.

I used a button from my old jrotc uniform jacket in place of that little rubber pad

Just to let you know for cautionary purposes, check your middle brake light. When my brake lights didn't go off, the bulb melted the red lense.

Thanks guys, I will check into it tomorrow. Also another thing I wanted to add, my 3rd brake light does not light up all the time, so could it still be the brake switch by the pedal? My other thought was it could have something to do with the parking light but the front once don't light up, any thoughts on this?

If your 3rd brake light is intermittent that is likely your problem. Even when it works the resistance is probably wrong.

AE92

For the third light not coming on, if it's not the bulb, then you problem have this problem: the wires on the two taillights, for me, deteriorated and some were contacting each other. Two lights would light, one would light brighter while the other dims, third brake light not coming on, etc. So, check/ replace those rear tail assemblies if the wires look burnt, rusted, corroded, etc.
