4age engine swap

This is way out there. I have a 91 corolla. 1.6 same old same old. I want to put an ae111. I believe the car was a Toyota Levin that had this. With a 6 speed transmission. For starters, how do you know if an engine will even fit in the compartment of the car? I think its too big really but I'm not sure.

well you'll have a little trouble fitting an ae111 inside of an ae92.... :P
(the ae111 is the chassis code for the whole car, A- engine series, E-corolla chassis, 111- generation)

there are tons of threas explaining how other A series engine will work, here is a general guide to get you started: Common Engine Swap Guide

I know right now eage8 is working on swapping a 20v silvertop into his car which should be very close to the blacktop that you are talking about(or at least think you are talking about?).

but short answer yes it will fit, the mounts are in the same spot but you'll possibly have to use other brackets/mounts themselves, I know this is addressed in eage's thread. About the transmission though I honestly cant remember what tranmission series it is so I dont know whether the axles are the same or not but I do know theres an issue retrofitting the shifter to accept a 6 speed. and wiring will be very different but all these answers can be found in a lot of threads

Im new to this site. can you give me a link to these threads? And the shifter issue, is most of that the same as the c160 transmissions swap issues are?

the c160 is the six speed. I'd probably stay the 5 speed but thats just me.

I dont remember which threads have many specifics, I found it all through searches. the info is pretty spread out but the very basic things you have to know are the mounts themselves or the brackets on them may be different than stock (and after going through swapping all the mounts on my celica I honestly say its a worthwhile investment just to have new ones). the engine should go in relatively easily. Make sure you get the full engine wiring harness and ECU. I never really looked into the specifics of this swap, I had my attention elsewhere when I owned an ae92.

this has info on the c160 swap and a swap to a 4agze
Official List of DIYs for the 6th-Gen AE92

look for a Thread titled Goodbye Weber, Hello Silvertop

those are the only ones I can remember right now.

The engine and transmission will fit.
The transmission mount to the far left of the car will require a slight bit of modification (new holes drilled)
The original car's shifter bracket needs some cutting and grinding to get the 6spd gearbox to select all gears.

From what I have read of the 6spd gearbox, that would be my choice.

The wiring will be your biggest headache. I suggest you get Dr. Tweak at Pheonixtuning.com to make you a harness that will be plug-n-play. About $400-450 I think, but well worth it.
