hey
haven't been on here for ages been sick lol
so i've bought a rev gauge has all the wires as it should
and just wondering if the ignition has a tach terminal or should it be wired straight to the ignition coil i have a vague idea but just wondering what the ignition has
cheers
There is a tachometer port just outside of the test connrctor box. It should have a little rubber cap over it. You can just plug in there for your signal.

ok cool wheres the test connector box?? cause my mate told me where the rev gauge cluster would go it connects to this thing that dangles down in the engine bay im not sure if thats right but is this box in the ignitionand is i easily accessible cause am thinking about putting it in today hoping it's a small job lol
It should be in the engine compartment on the side of the left strut tower. Little black plastic box about 1" X 1 1/2" with a flip up cap. On the side of that, there will be a little rubber cap, about 1/4".

ok, so it's all in but, the wiring is really weird like first when it was wired to the dimmer, when i turned the lights on the gauge would turn off since its a smoked gauge which has a backlight, and now it won't turn off when i take the keys out of the ignition so i have to take the ground out of the door
what could be wrong i think somethings been wired the wrong way around i might take it to an auto electrician tommorowand see what they say but i don't want to be spending a tonne of money lol

you have it wired to a constant 12V instead of a switched 12V.
I usually wire my accessories (read: gauges) to the 12V off the cigarette lighter. You can also wire it to the switched 12V for the stereo.

i've just tried wiring the ground to the cigarette lighter it's done exactly the same thing like on the headlights when i turned the key the gauge would turn off im thinking somethings reversed which turns it off when it gets power i might try wiring it to the clock otherwise im stumped maybe an auto electrician needs to be paid a visit
ok this wat u should do take ur ground and ground it to a bolt on the fire wall that behind your left pedal, capet might cover it, then take ur power and connected to the fuse for your headlight light and it should turn on and off when switchin your headlights this is the set up i had when i did my tach but good lucks
it is connected to my headlights, and since it is smoked the backlight needs to be on constantly otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the revs.
It is grounded to my door which gives a very good ground but i just need to find a switch so it turns on with the key maybe wiring it up with the clock on the dash could help???
