I ruined another tire last week, so I think I am going to just park it and drive my brothers old corolla this winter. He got a brand new Corolla S, it is pretty nice. I am thinking about fixing the rust on the sides and maybe trying to take on the sun roof. Or I could just put my snow tires on early and just start driving it again, but I really want to fix the rust.

Well, they are crappy tires. Fierce HP and the sidewall is tiny. I hit a bump on the interstate and it started pulling to the right a little. Then after a little while it just started pulling really really hard and the tire was flat. So I pumped it up with a bike pump and checked it at a gas station a few miles. It was fine. Then I got on the interstate and it went flat again. By the time I noticed the sidewall was pretty much ruined. I am buying Toyo Proxes from now on. The only problem with that is that I am not getting as many hours at work(they are intentionally screwing me over and I am looking for a new job). Fun fun. Thank God I have an extra car.

The roads must be really bad in your area.... did you ever think about downsizing to smaller wheels and tires with larger sidewalls to prevent this from happening again?

Yeah I have considered, but then I would need to buy new rims and tires. I would be better off just putting my stock rims back on until I had money to buy a new tire. The Toyo Proxes have a lot more sidewall for being the same size tire. I just think the ones I have right now are junk.

My car is parked after next weekend as well I had a r compound blowout last month on the highway so I haven't been autoxing for a while now. Tire was brand new too, no money to replace since I'm going to college and I got laid off in june.
What happened to my r compound was about the same as you described... except before the fact i was traveling around 230km/hr for a rather extended period with some deceleration and acceleration mixed in. Blowout happened coming off a ramp... sidewall puncture tire was so hot it burned to the touch too. So easily punctured.... Pretty large sidewalls.

why were you driving on r-comps on the highway? seems like a huge waste of money to me... they don't last long enough for highway use.

They are a hard compound not soft like a6's, lets just say it was late and i was in a rush. Driving r compounds on the street isn't exactly something I fancy though or highway for that matter.

What R-compounds were they?
