Unknown dipstick.

first of all let me say hello to you all. i am new here and just recieved my first toyota. its a 1990 corolla Sedan..automatic. my question is, because it didnt have a user manual, ...what is the red tip colored dipstick that is directly to the left, passenger side, side of the battery. im thinkin its the transmission fluid, but just wanted to be sure. also, are there any good, free places i can download a user manual? i'm sure it would help with some future questions i may have. thanks in advance for any help/suggestions...

Most likely tranny fluid. Get a Chiltons or Haynes Manual and get aquainted w/your new ride.

I did see a 1987 Acura 3.0L with a red/orange handle dipstick for Engine Oil & a yellow handle dipstick for Tranny oil. Go figure

well your car really only has 2 dipsticks, the oil and auto-transmission fluid and it's not the oil, so yeah, it's probably the transmission fluid

As the other posters confirmed, it is your transmission fluid dipstick. You should also be aware, that in addition to the dipstick, that your automatic transmission has a separate differential that you check by removing a threaded plug (17MM head) on the back of the transmission toward the firewall. This is often times overlooked, and lack of fluid in the differential has been the cause of death of many of these transmissions.
